Ask Questions on Algebra

How do you explain in simple terms to students on how they can solve equations with same variables on opposite sides of the equation. eg. 2x+3x-10=-x+6+2 the kids are failing to understand how the signs change when grouping like terms or when a term has to move from one side of the equation to the other
I am currently a full time maths teacher at a high school. I have a first degree in Engineering and a teaching qualification in maths. I am able to tutor maths from KS2 to ‘A’
level. I enjoy teaching; I relate well with my pupils and have very high expectations of pupils
I teach. Maths is generally perceived to be boring but I teach it in a fun way and most of
my pupils have grown to love and enjoy maths.
