  2. You have to raise everything in the bracket to the power of 4.
    So 3^4= 81, then x^4
    and for (y^2)^4 - this means
    y^2 x y^2 x y^2 x y^2 which makes y^8.
    So if you put this together yu get 81x^4y^8.
    Hope this helps.

  5. 2x^2 - x(1 + x)
    First expand the bracket. That gives -x -x^2.
    Therefore by collecting the like terms, in this case the x^2:

    2x^2 - x -x^2 will be x^2 - x.

  6. Deposit of £d is constant.
    12 monthly payments of £m will be 12 x m which gives £12m.
    Expression for cost of bicycle will therefore be

    £d + 12m

    If he mums gibes him £10 towards it them he pays £10 less. So this will be

    £d + 12m - 10

  7. hey, can you please rearrange the equation 2y-x=6 to make y the subject!

    Please help? I need to know :(

  8. To make y the subject in the equation 2y-x=6.
    First you add x to both sides. This gives:
    2y = 6 + x
    Then you divide both sides by 2. This gives:
    y= (6 + x)/2.

    Thanks
